You may recall in this article I suggested:
You could also arm yourself with one of those side-car “co-sleepers“. I’ve never tried one, and they’re pretty spendy, but many moms swear by them and they seem like the best of all worlds.
Today I get to offer a caveat. There’s new info on these co-sleepers:
CPSC and Arm’s Reach have received 10 reports of infants falling from the raised mattress into the bottom of the sleeper or becoming entrapped between the edge of the mattress and the side of the bed-side sleeper. No injuries have been reported.
It is important to note no injuries have been reported, and the issues seem to occur:
When the fabric liner is not used or is not securely attached, infants can fall from the raised mattress into the loose fabric at the bottom of the bed-side sleeper or can become entrapped between the edge of the mattress and the side of the sleeper, posing risks of suffocation.
So, as with any infant product you buy, please read the instructions carefully and do exactly what they say to do. What should you do if you have this particular product?
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed-side sleepers and visit www.armsreach.com/instructions to view and download assembly instructions and to make sure that the product is properly configured.
